Specialization: Athletic Therapy

Pursue a career devoted to the health care of active individuals to high-performance athletes. You will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for injury prevention, emergency services, and rehabilitation. You will undertake musculoskeletal and postural evaluation, equipment fitting and selection, prophylactic and supportive taping and wrapping, injury assessment, basic and advanced emergency life support and first aid. Your educational experience will include foundations in human anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition as well as conditioning programs and rehabilitative techniques.

Specialization:  Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology

If you have an appreciation for people with disabilities or chronic disease conditions, their lifestyle, and their exercise possibilities, you will find this program of interest. You will learn how to adapt traditional exercise forms, fitness assessment techniques and training protocols to meet the needs of people with physical and sensory impairments. You will learn how the health care delivery system works, and its implications for the field of adapted and therapeutic physical activity.

Honours

The BSc Honours in Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology offers additional courses providing research training in a variety of applied-science and health areas. Students must have at least a GPA of 3.3 to be admissible in the honours program. Graduating from the BSc Honours program will possess an academic background compatible with the entry requirements for the majority of graduate schools. Students must meet the University regulations concerning the Honours degree. It is also possible to do a BSc Honours in Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology or a BSc Honours in Athletic Therapy.
